At Healthcare Rising Arizona, we believe that when we have large numbers of people, we can tackle the problems with our broken healthcare system and make positive change for every day Arizonans. We’re not a charity or a think tank — we’re a coalition of patients and caregivers; family, friends, and neighbors, all dedicated to improving the standard of healthcare and living in Arizona. We strive to be a growing, participatory organization, with every dues-paying member taking actions big or small to make our state better.

The Predatory Debt Collection Protection Act
This ballot initiative will help Arizonans by protecting more assets from being sold to pay off debt collectors, ensuring hard-working Arizonans keep more of their bank accounts and wages, and limiting the outrageous interest rates that trap families in an unending cycle of debt.

Learn more about Proposition 209
A chronic disease or sudden medical emergency can cost families tens of thousands of dollars, even with insurance.
Proposition 209 will protect families from predatory debt collection by:
- Capping the interest rate on medical debt at 3%
- Increasing the protected value of a house to protect more Arizonans from losing their homes
- Increasing the protected value of a car so families can keep the transportation that lets them work and contribute to our communities
- Letting Arizonans keep at least 90% of their paychecks
Too many Arizona families are suffering because of emergency medical debt and predatory debt collection practices. No Arizona family should lose their home or car; struggle to put food on the table; or be trapped in an unending cycle of debt because of a medical emergency.
