Your Right to Choose and Your Vote Are Under Attack
The Arizona Abortion Access Act (Prop 139) passed last year with a clear majority, but now politicans are pulling sneaky tricks to make it easier to overturn AND strip us of democratic rights.
What is happening?
Politicians are trying to sneak a bill through the state legislature that would take power away from Arizonans by making it almost impossible to pass citizens’ initiatives. The bill, HCR 2025, would require a supermajority to pass citizen-led initiatives and make it easier to repeal the ones voters have already decided on. That includes Prop 139.
Why are they doing this?
Abortion rights are popular. Prop 139 won last year with a clear majority. The only trick these anti-democratic legislators have is to change the rules, because they already lost outright.
How do we fight it?
Healthcare Rising is protecting the freedoms and resources that Arizonans need to thrive. Our members led the effort to pass Prop 139 to protect Arizonans’ right to reproductive healthcare, and won initiatives to combat medical debt and raise the minimum wage.
