[ PHOENIX ]— In partnership with RIP Medical Debt, Healthcare Rising Arizona has donated $10,000 to pay off medical debt for patients and families. Every dollar donated to RIP Medical Debt will pay off $100 worth of Arizona patients’ un-payable medical debt, which comes out to $1 million in forgiven debt thanks to Healthcare Rising Arizona and our volunteer leaders.

Healthcare Rising Arizona is gathering signatures for a ballot measure in 2022 called the Arizona Predatory Debt Collection Protection Act. It would protect families from getting caught in a debt trap due to out of control medical bills. Currently, 18% of Arizonans have medical bills that are past due.

“Our leaders are working hard across our state, gathering signatures at churches, homes, libraries and non-profits to put the Predatory Debt Collection Protection Act on the ballot. For every signature our leaders get, we are donating money to RIP Medical Debt to provide relief for families struggling with medical debt,” said Janet Hamlin, a leader in Healthcare Rising Arizona. “Medical debt can be devastating, and that’s why we are working to pass the Predatory Debt Collection Protection Act.”

Healthcare Rising Arizona is a healthcare advocacy organization committed to finding solutions to the problems that face us as healthcare workers, patients, and consumers.
